Tom Izzo makes history with Michigan State's win over Maryland
Michigan State got a huge road win over Maryland on Saturday night, keeping itself alive in the race for a regular season B1G title. And with the victory, head coach Tom Izzo made B1G history.
The Spartans posted a 78-66 victory over the Terrapins in College Park on Saturday night, pulling to within one game of the Terps in the conference standings. That win was also Izzo’s 300th B1G victory of his career. He’s just the second head coach in the history of the league to hit that mark.
That's a lot of B1G wins.

Former Indiana head coach Bob Knight was the first and only other to hit that mark. Knights compiled 353 conference victories in his 29 seasons in Bloomington.
Izzo has been at Michigan State for 25 seasons as the head coach.
With Saturday night’s victory, Michigan State improved to 20-9 on the season. It marks the ninth-consecutive season the Spartans have hit the 20-win mark. MSU is 12-6 in B1G play and is one game behind Maryland in the standings with one week left in the regular season.
Michigan State closes the season with a road trip to Penn State on Tuesday and a home game against Ohio State on Sunday.
