Tom Izzo praises Butler fans, environment following 1st win in Hinkle Fieldhouse
Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo loved the atmosphere at the Hinkle Fieldhouse on Wednesday night where Butler plays.
Izzo’s Spartans took down the Bulldogs in convincing fashion after running away with it in the 2nd half, 73-52. The win got MSU to 3-1 on the year, while Butler suffered its 2nd loss and dropped to 3-2.
After the game, Izzo spoke to the media and praised the Bulldogs fanbase for being awesome.
“I’ve been blessed to do some really cool things in my life because of basketball. Coming to a place like this, I give them a lot of credit,” Izzo said.
He then continued his praise of Butler’s fanbase with how happy he was to get a win in this hostile environment.
“The fans, the atmosphere was incredible. The people were classy,” explained Izzo. “The students were a little rowdy coming in and I loved it. I have nothing but good things to say about Hinkle…this is a hell of an environment, a great place. I’m happy to get a win like this in a place like this.”
