Tom Izzo could not be happier with his 2023-24 Michigan State squad. The Spartans have been receiving major hype during the offseason and Izzo thinks it’s well-deserved.

“The program has earned the right to be a quality program, so if it’s not ranked there, that upsets me more,” said Izzo, while speaking at the Michigan State media day.

The Spartans received a boost when Tyson Walker and Malik Hall decided to take advantage of the COVID-19 option year. A.J. Hoggard and Jaden Akins each decided to return to East Lansing as well after testing out the NBA Draft waters. The team also added top prospects Xavier Booker, Coen Carr, and Jeremy Fears.

Izzo’s squad will be hoping to build off of an impressive 2022-23 season. That squad ended up making it to the Sweet 16 before being knocked out by Kansas State. The Spartans tip off the 2023-24 season on Nov. 6 against James Madison.
