For Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo, his 2021 recruiting class has produced one heck of a backcourt. 5-star freshman Max Christie and 4-star classmate Jaden Akins are poised to lead the Spartans charge for a couple of years to come.

The No. 1 shooting guard in his class, and No. 19 overall prospect, Christie joins Akins who was also one of the best point guards in the 2021 class that can also play at the two-spot.

Izzo is high on Christie and his ability to get the job done, comparing him to once Spartan, and now Orlando Magic guard Gary Harris.

MSU is hoping to have a rebound season after last year’s mediocre finish, ending the season in 8th place in the B1G. The season was the worst since 1992-93 when Jud Heathcote was still the head coach.

Izzo will be looking for his incoming freshmen to get the Spartans back into the winning side of the rankings.
