A Michigan State tight end has decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal. The decision comes after the Spartans closed out the 2021 campaign with a Peach Bowl victory over Pitt.

Tight end Trenton Gillison announced on Twitter on Monday that he will enter the transfer portal. He spent 4 seasons in East Lansing, initially joining the program under previous head coach Mark Dantonio.

With a redshirt year used and the COVID-19 waiver, he will still have 2 years to play at his next destination.

Gillison’s best season with the Spartans came in 2019. That year, he appeared in 12 games and caught 12 passes for 147 yards. For his career with MSU, the tight end has totaled 18 receptions for 201 yards.

Michigan State is coming off a successful 11-2 campaign in 2021. The Spartans capped it off with a thrilling victory over Pitt in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 30. It was just the second year of the Mel Tucker era.
