Tre Holloman extended Michigan State’s winning streak to 4 games in the most exciting way possible.

Michigan State and Maryland were tied up 55-55 in the final seconds. Jaxon Kohler got his team-leading 8th rebound of the game on Ja’Kobi Gillespie’s missed 3-point attempt. He made a quick pass to Holloman who launched one from beyond halfcourt. Miraculously, it went in for the 58-55 Spartan victory in College Park.

While the game ended on a thrilling highlight, it was not a banner shooting night for either team. The Spartans shot 34% from the field (22-of-65) and 27% from 3-point range (4-of-15). Maryland made 31% of its field-goal attempts (15-of-48) and 20% from 3-point land.

MSU was better on the glass, out-rebounding Maryland 45-33. The Terps took advantage at the foul line, going 21-of-26 while MSU shot just 12 free throws, making 10.

Maryland’s Rodney Rice was the game’s high scorer with 20 points. MSU was led by Jase Richardson with 15 points. No other Michigan State player reached double figures, though 10 Spartans scored in the game.

Tom Izzo’s team improves to 23-5 overall and 14-3 in Big Ten play. The Spartants have 3 conference games remaining before the Big Ten Tournament. Up next, MSU returns home to host Wisconsin on Sunday.
