Tyson Walker, Max Christie reflect on Michigan State's 'ugly' win over Maryland
Michigan State started its time in Indianapolis with a win over Maryland, though that game was far from impressive when it was all said and done.
The Spartans had a 9-point lead at halftime and built it to 20 points in the second half. Unfortunately, a full-court press by the Terrapins threw Michigan State into a tailspin as Maryland clawed back into the game.
In the end, Michigan State pulled out a 76-72 win. Down the stretch, Tyson Walker hit a clutch bucket and Max Christie secured some tough rebounds and hit key free-throws.
Afterwards, Walker discussed the issues with the press and squeaking out a win.
Tyson Walker on MSU’s final 3 minutes: “They did a good job denying everybody from getting the ball. We just didn’t try to get the ball as hard as we should have.” Said the Spartans had been doing markedly better in cutting turnovers until those final few minutes.

Christie also succinctly summed up the win:
MSU’s Max Christie: “A win is a win, but it was ugly at the end.”

Now, it will be up to the Spartans to build off their victory in Friday’s game vs. 2-seed Wisconsin.
