Through one half of action, Michigan State is playing like a team with its back against the wall while Illinois is looking sluggish after a dominant weekend win.

On Saturday, the Illini put up arguably their best performance of the season. Ayo Dosunmu posted a triple-double while Illinois beat Minnesota by 31 points on the road. That pushed the team to a seven-game winning streak and looking for more against the Spartans.

However, Tom Izzo’s squad has been fighting hard and aggressively offensively throughout the first half. Aaron Henry, coming off a special performance against Indiana, led Michigan State with eight points on 4-for-7 shooting. Joshua Langford also chipped in seven points and has done the dirty work on the boards with 10 rebounds at the break.

On the other side of the ball, Trent Frazier leads all scorers with a game-high nine points while Dosunmu has seven points on 2-for-9 shooting. Kofi Cockburn was a handful when on the court, but he was limited with two fouls in the first half.

If Illinois wants to avoid the road upset, they will need much more from Cockburn and Dosunmu in the second half. Michigan State leads 36-26 coming out of the break. Catch the rest of the action on FS1.
