They say that public speaking is one of the greatest and most common fears amongst people. But that doesn’t apply to Michigan State senior safety Khari Willis.

Willis was selected to be the keynote speaker at the B1G Kickoff Luncheon this year, an honor that is awarded to one player when media days roll around. There’s no question that Willis was the perfect person to deliver this years speech.

After giving a brief background about himself and his experience as a player at Michigan State, Willis talked about becoming a more involved member of the campus and the community surrounding East Lansing, and urged his teammates and B1G opponents to do the same.

“I challenge all the other student-athletes here today, go back to your communities, let’s make a difference. Let our light shine,” Willis said. “Let’s impart what we’ve learned on our college campuses…the 40 plus players that are here, we have the opportunity, we were chosen for a reason. You all are special.”

Willis received a standing ovation from everyone in attendance when he concluded his speech.
