WATCH: Perfectly executed reverse gives MSU late lead over Rutgers

Michigan State’s offense was once again stagnant, but Cody White provided the late spark the Spartans were looking for.

The Spartans’ defense was once again impressive, holding the Scarlet Knights to 10 points in the contest. Unfortunately, the 1-10 Knights also bottled up Michigan State’s offense for much of the afternoon. With less than five minutes to go, Rutgers clung to a three-point lead in a game where the Spartans were favored big time.

Fortunately for Mark Dantonio’s squad, a reverse to White was the right call for the situation. Quarterback Rocky Lombardi sold the play beautifully, the blocking opened up a nice lane, and White raced down the sideline for the go-ahead score.

The play would prove to be a game-winner as the Spartans hung on for the 14-10 win. FOX College Football shared the go-ahead touchdown:
