What Mel Tucker said before Michigan State's game vs. Penn State
The 7th-ranked Michigan State Spartans had a nightmarish weekend in Columbus.
Both Ohio State and Michigan State entered at 9-1. A Spartan win would have gotten coach Mel Tucker’s group one step closer to a Big Ten title in just his 2nd season at the helm. Instead, quarterback CJ Stroud and the Ohio State offense lit up the Spartan defense for 49 first-half points en route to a 56-7 win.
Though College Football Playoff aspirations were dashed along with their Big Ten title hopes, the Spartans could still be looking to make their case for a New Year’s 6 bowl game. There’s also Senior Day.
The Penn State Nittany Lions (7-4, 4-4 Big Ten) come to East Lansing on Saturday for a regular-season finale, kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC. Tucker met with members of the media on Monday to address that game, last week’s loss, and more.
Here’s what he had to say:
