The NFL playoff race is heating up as we hit the home stretch, but award nominations are also starting to come out for the NFL. One of the most prestigious honor you can earn in the NFL is the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, awarded for a player’s leadership on the field and commitment to community service off the field.

Former Nebraska LB Lavonte David surprised former Michigan State DL William Gholston as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers nominated him for the Walter Payton Man of the Year.

The Walter Payton Man of the Year will be awarded on Feb. 9 at the NFL Honors ceremony before Super Bowl 57.

Tampa Bay currently sits 6-6 overall and leads the NFC South. The Buccaneers play at the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday at 4:25 ET.
