William Peagler got a distinct honor from FootballScoop after the work he did at Michigan State this past season.

Peagler has been named FootballScoop’s running backs Coach of the Year after turning Kenneth Walker III into the best back in college football.

Walker was a good player at Wake Forest before transferring to Michigan State, but he was never a great player. He rushed for 579 yards 2 seasons in a row as a Demon Deacon before putting it all together as a Spartan.

For the 2021 season, Walker finished with 1,636 yards on the ground along with 18 touchdowns on 263 carries. He also averaged 6.2 yards per carry, which is another top mark among running backs.

Walker went over the 100-yard mark in eight games this season while being coached by Peagler and also won the Doak Walker Award for the nation’s top running back.

Peagler is now at Florida where he will be a tight end assistant on Billy Napier’s staff.
