Anthony Smith is one of only a couple 4-star prospects the Golden Gophers brought in for their 2022 recruiting class. He stands at 6-foot-6 and was rated as the No. 41 defensive lineman in the country and a top 350 recruit by 247 Sports.
And he’s is already turning heads in preseason camp, per Andy Greder of the Pioneer Press.
Question: As #NFL scouts have come through #Gophers football practice this fall, they’ve often asked a version of: “Who’s that guy?”
Answer: Anthony Smith, the 6-foot-6, 280-pound defensive lineman from Shippensburg, Pa.

Smith has a ways to go before seeing the field, despite the loss of Minnesota’s best pass rusher last season in Boye Mafe. The Golden Gophers were as solid as any team in the B1G last season on the defensive side of the ball, but lost 6 of its top 8 most tenured athletes on the defensive line.
Defensive coordinator Joe Rossi may find it difficult ignoring Smith for too long in the future, though.
