Those are some nice comments from Winfield to his longtime teammate. The Bucs’ free safety was the 45th overall pick in the second round of the NFL Draft by the franchise in 2020.
Johnson, a wide receiver, was the 161st overall selection in the fifth round by the Buccaneers in the same draft.
At Minnesota, Winfield picked off 9 passes, including 7 during his final season in 2019. He was named First-Team All B1G for his efforts.
Johnson enjoyed most of his success in his final two seasons with the Gophers. The Minnesota native caught 164 balls for 2,487 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2018 and 2019. Johnson was named First-Team All B1G at the conclusion of the 2019 season.
Of note, Minnesota went 11-2 and won the Outback Bowl during the 2019 season. Both Winfield and Johnson are now looking for more success in their professional careers.
