If Minnesota is ever in need of some help at quarterback, perhaps offensive lineman Daniel Faalele could be of some assistant. He showed off his arm on a trick play during Saturday’s spring game.

With head coach P.J. Fleck requiring both the Maroon and Gold teams to run at least two trick plays during the scrimmage, the Gold drew one up that worked to perfection and resulted in a touchdown pass. Faalele, the 6-foot-9, 400-pound offensive lineman, was the one throwing the pass.

Seriously.

Faalele hit a wide open Ko Kieft in the back of the end zone for the score:

Faalele did not play for the Golden Gophers during the 2020 season, a big reason why the offensive line struggled early on. But he appears to be at full strength this spring, and that’s good news for the Minnesota offense.

He’ll be part of a really experienced offensive line in 2021. And, hey, maybe he’ll play a little QB, too.
