Minnesota’s offense took yet another hit on Saturday.

Days after the Gophers kicked second-leading receiver Brian Smith off the team, they lost another key weapon, at least for Saturday.

According to the Pioneer Press, tailback Shannon Brooks will be out for Saturday’s game with an undisclosed injury. He missed the first three games of the season with an foot injury.

Brooks is the team’s second-leading rusher with 472 yards this season. Brooks and Rodney Smith formed one of the country’s better 1-2 backfield punches.

Smith will presumably get the majority of the work on Saturday against Purdue’s porous run defense. Kobe McCrary could take on Brooks’ role in the backfield.

Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CT in Minneapolis.
