Commitments were coming in by the handful for P.J. Fleck and company on Saturday, as Minnesota received five verbal pledges throughout the afternoon.

Five players made their decisions to commit to the Golden Gophers, giving the program’s 2020 recruiting class quite a boost. It started with the addition of German defensive end Melle Kreuder and continued throughout the night.

The Gophers received commitments from two cornerbacks, an offensive lineman and another defensive end in addition to Kreuder. All four players were three-star prospects. Here’s a list of who Minnesota added to the 2020 class this weekend:

  • Jalen Glaze (Tallahassee, FL) — 3-star CB
  • Claude Larkins (Hollywood, FL) — 3-star WDE
  • Aireontae Ersery (Kansas City, MO) — 3-star OL
  • Benjamin Onwuzo (Hollywood, FL) — 3-star CB
  • Melle Kreuder (Munich, Germany) — unranked DE

Ersery, a 6-foot-5, 275-pound lineman, is the highest-ranked recruit of the group Minnesota added over the weekend. He’s listed as the No. 70 offensive tackle in the 2020 class. Onwuzo was the second-highest prospect to join the class, as he was listed as the No. 70 cornerback of the cycle.

Larkins is a top 60 defensive end and Glaze falls just outside one of the top 100 corners in the class.

Minnesota had dealt with a slew of decommits in recent weeks, but the big weekend has given the Gophers quite a boost, both in  numbers and in overall rankings. With the five new additions, Minnesota’s class ranks 29th nationally and seventh in the B1G.
