Cameron Christie will be following in the steps of his older brother and is headed to play in the B1G. However, the younger Christie will not be suiting up for Tom Izzo at Michigan State.

On Friday, Cameron Christie revealed his commitment to Minnesota and head coach Ben Johnson. “Paving my own path,” wrote Christie in his announcement.

According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Christie is a 3-star prospect and the No. 26 shooting guard in the country. He’s also the 143rd player nationally regardless of position for the class of 2023.

Listed at 6-foot-5, Christie is the younger brother of Max Christie who played for Michigan State during the 2021-22 basketball season. Max played just one season before the Spartans before being selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft.

Cameron becomes the first commitment for Minnesota’s 2023 recruiting class. Kadyn Betts was originally committed for the cycle but has since reclassified to the class of 2022 for the Gophers.
