Clemson’s Nyles Pinckney, who has won five ACC championships and two national championships while playing for the Tigers, doesn’t want to say farewell to college football.

The 6-foot-1-inch, 300 pound defensive tackle has announced his commitment to play a final season of collegiate ball, this one way up north in Minneapolis for noted boat captain PJ Fleck and his Minnesota Golden Gopher program.

Pinckney was a graduate-class player at Clemson in 2020 and took a redshirt year during his freshman season in 2016. With the NCAA’s COVID-induced eligibility freeze for the 2020 campaign, Pinckney has one more year to play on the college gridiron.

He sounds excited to get another chance to play and apparently enjoys playing school as well.

“Graduating not once, but twice, from the greatest University in the world has truly been a blessing and something I never will forget,” wrote Pinckney.

“With that being said, I would like to announce I will be taking the opportunity to finish my last year of eligibility at the University of Minnesota. Row the boat.”

The Golden Gophers finished 2020 3-4 after a historic 11-2 campaign in 2019 that included a New Year’s Day bowl win over the Auburn Tigers. Pinckney will bring experience and depth to a Gopher’s defensive line that struggled to impact the game throughout 2020.
