Daniel Jackson had a breakout game against Purdue in Week 5 despite the loss. He should start to see his number called more often.

Jackson caught 6 passes for 110 yards receiving against the Boilermakers in the 20-10 loss that Minnesota suffered at home. At the end of the day, he’s just trying to do what he can to help the Golden Gophers win week in and week out.

Here’s what he had to say about his role per Ameer Eldomiatti of GopherSports.com:

“Every time my number gets called on, I try to provide in the best way possible, make the completion, stay consistent, do all the blocking and running routes,” Jackson said.

Jackson missed the first two games of the season, but is back and better than ever. Jackson has 178 yards receiving with two touchdowns so far on the year, and should be a great option for QB Tanner Morgan to throw to.

“I got my feet back in the water a little bit,” Jackson explained. “Just going out there playing carefree, not careless, but carefree because this is a kid’s game. Everyone has the ability to perform, and I just feel that I have to let the plays create themselves and take advantage of them when they are called.”

We’ll see if Jackson can keep this up as Minnesota takes on Illinois at noon ET on BTN.
