Despite freezing cold temperatures, Wednesday's Illinois-Minnesota game still on
Minnesota and the rest of the Midwest is suppose to experience dangerously cold weather throughout the week, but that won’t stop B1G basketball from tipping of at Williams Arena.
Tuesday, Minnesota announced via Twitter that Wednesday’s game against Illinois will be played as scheduled, despite sub-zero temperatures. Tipoff between the Gophers and Illini is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT.
Illinois is 6-14 (2-7 B1G) on the season while Minnesota is 15-5 (5-4 B1G).

Minnesota’s forecast for Wednesday could see temperatures as low as -30, according to The Weather Channel. Temperatures won’t get out of the negatives, with the high projected at -13.
There’s also a wind chill warning through Thursday morning.
Wednesday’s matchup between Illinois and Minnesota will be the second meeting between the two teams, with the Illini winning the first matchup 95-68. Both teams posted upset victories over the weekend, with Minnesota defeating then No. 19 Iowa and Illinois knocking off then-No. 13 Maryland.
