Elijah Hawkins is headed to the B1G.

Minnesota added a talented and experienced point guard as the former Howard point guard Hawkins announced a commitment to play for the Golden Gophers.

The 5-11 point guard averaged 12.9 points and 6.0 assists this past season, and shot 46% from 3-point range. What’s more, Hawkins had 18 games with at least 5 or more assists.

Hawkins led Howard last season to its first NCAA tournament appearance in 31 years. Hawkins entered the NCAA transfer portal in mid-April and visited Minnesota in the last week.

Hawkins, who is from DeMatha High School in the Washington, D.C. area, as a freshman at Howard started and played 30 minutes a game. Hawkins has 2 seasons left to play at the college level.
