A former Minnesota defensive lineman has settled on a transfer destination.
Bowling Green received a commitment from Ali Saad on Wednesday. The ex-Golden Gopher made his announcement with a post on Twitter. Saad spent just one season in the Twin Cities before departing from the program. He’ll have all four years of eligibility remaining.
Saad is a 6-foot-3, 260-pound native of Dearborn, Michigan. He was a 3-star member of Minnesota’s 2020 recruiting class.

Out of high school, Saad ranked as one of the Top 100 defensive tackles in the recruiting class and was listed as the No. 30 player out of Michigan. He initially committed to play at Minnesota in June 2019.
Nearly 30 schools offered Saad out of high school. He picked Minnesota over other Power 5 programs like Boston College, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, Missouri, Northwestern and Rutgers.
Saad did not see any game action for the Golden Gophers during the 2020 campaign. The team finished with a 3-4 record.
