Former Minnesota standout Boye Mafe records highlight strip sack in NFL debut
The Seattle Seahawks have a lot of faith in some of their top draft picks from the 2022 NFL Draft including former Minnesota standout defender Boye Mafe. In the first NFL game of his career, Mafe had an impactful performance that included a strip sack and a second sack with 1:17 minutes left in the game.

While Seattle lost their first preseason game of the 2022 season to the Pittsburgh Steelers 32-25, Mafe accounted for 3 solo tackles, 2 sacks, 1 tackle for loss, and 1 quarterback hit.
Mafe was selected by Seattle in the second round (40th overall pick) of the 2022 NFL Draft to be their key pass rusher for the future. He is listed as the second-string strongside linebacker for Seattle behind Uchenna Nwosu.
In his four seasons at Minnesota, Mafe accumulated 87 total tackles, 59 solo tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, 3 pass breakups, and 3 forced fumbles.
