Former Minnesota star Carter Coughlin has standout preseason game with New York Giants
Life in the NFL can be tough for a former seventh-round pick, but ex-Minnesota star Carter Coughlin is getting along just fine.
Coughlin had an outstanding preseason game for the Giants against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. His outing included this sack, which was noticed by Minnesota football’s Twitter account:

Coughlin finished this game with four tackles, including that sack of Browns QB Case Keenum.
Praise from Giants fans and media has been rolling in:
Carter Coughlin. Good football player. Only going to get better.
Second week in a row used as a pass rusher on the interior and just decked Keenum for the sack.
B.J. Hill also in the vicinity.

The #Giants got Cam Brown in the sixth round and both Tae Crowder and Carter Coughlin in the seventh last year.
All three could play sizable roles this year on defense/special teams.

Downs replaced by Carter Coughlin after that missed tackle. I just don't get this Downs thing, I really don't.

Carter Coughlin is flat out playing himself into playing time.
Another games with a sack & TFL. This play shows how he can embarrass IOL with his pass rush ability & versatility. Gotta clean up some coverage reps but this move to ILB was perfect for him pic.twitter.com/jqkF4EKk4v

Coughlin started two games for the Giants last season, and appeared in 14. He recorded 17 total tackles, 2 tackles for loss and 1 sack. He seems poised to improve on those numbers in 2021.
He joined the Giants after a stellar career with Minnesota that saw him earn second team All-Big Ten honors in back-to-back seasons.
The Giants open their 2021 season on Sept. 12 against the Denver Broncos.
