Former Minnesota TE Maxx Williams out for season with knee injury
Maxx Williams was having a career year for the Arizona Cardinals this season.
But he’ll miss the rest of the 2021 campaign with a knee injury, Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury announced Wednesday.
News: Former #Gophers tight end Maxx Williams’ season with Cardinals is done after suffering a knee injury on Sunday. Huge bummer for the seventh-year vet, who was putting up career-best numbers this season.

Williams tallied 16 catches for 193 yards and a touchdown in 5 games before suffering the injury last week against the San Francisco 49ers. To put it in perspective, he had 8 catches for 102 yards and a touchdown in 9 games last year.
While at Minnesota, Williams was named First Team All-B1G in 2014 when he scored 8 touchdowns — a single-season program record for a TE. His 986 career yards ranks 3rd in program history for TEs. The Baltimore Ravens selected Williams in the 2nd round of the 2015 NFL Draft and he signed with Arizona in 2019.
