Minnesota is losing another member of its 2020 recruiting class, and this time it is the second highest-ranked recruit from the Gophers’ class for that cycle.

Itayvion Brown, a freshman linebacker out of St. Louis, Missouri, posted on his personal Twitter account that he would be leaving the Gophers via the transfer portal. He did not appear in action during the 2020 season.

“Thank you to the University of Minnesota, Coach Fleck and the entire coaching staff,” wrote Brown. “I’m grateful for the opportunity that I was given, but with that being said I have decided to enter the transfer portal.”

According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Brown was a four-star recruit and the No. 311 player nationally and No. 21 OLB for the 2020 class. He committed to the Gophers over Kansas, Florida State, Illinois, and Indiana. Daniel Jackson, a four-star wide receiver out of Kansas, was the only prospect ranked higher for Minnesota’s 2020 class.

According to Andy Greder with Pioneer Press, Brown becomes the third member of Minnesota’s 2020 class to enter the transfer portal. It was a crazy year across the board for many teams, but that is not the kind of news P.J. Fleck and staff were hoping for heading into 2021.
