Every year, almost every college football team picks a home game to dedicate to current and former members of the military. On Monday, Minnesota announced the date and opponent for its Salute to Service Members game.

Minnesota’s annual Salute to Service Members game will be held on Nov. 9, when the Golden Gophers welcome Penn State to TCF Bank Stadium. Kickoff time for the game is still to be determined.

Along with hosting a Salute to Service Members, Minnesota will also donate a ticket to an active member or veteran of the military for every $55 donated. The Golden Gopher athletic department will also match all fan contributions in an attempt to increase the number of tickets donated.

Penn State is one of seven opponents Minnesota will host in 2019. The two teams last played in a cross-division game in 2016 at Beaver Stadium, a 29-26 overtime victory for a Nittany Lions.

The two teams have played a total of 14 times with Penn State owning a 9-5 advantage in the all-time series.
