Minnesota’s basketball roster is taking a hit.

Freshman guard Bryan “BJ” Greenlee has decided to leave the Golden Gophers basketball program, telling head coach Richard Pitino he is seeking more playing time, according to the Star Tribune. During the 2019 season, Greenlee appeared in 19 contests but averaged less than three minutes per contest.

Greenlee is a former three-star recruit out of Gainesville, Florida. He finished his lone season in the Twin Cities with nine rebounds, five points, four assists and two steals. The Gophers finished the season with a 15-16 record.

Two Minnesota guards have now hit the transfer portal since the conclusion of the 2019-20 season. Last month, Payton Willis decided to leave the program. He will complete his career at the College of Charleston.

Greenlee will have three seasons of eligibility remaining but will have to sit out for the 2020-21 season due to NCAA rules, unless he’s granted a waiver.
