Minnesota has been hit hard by injuries at the running back position this season and it just got worse.
During P.J. Fleck’s press conference, he confirmed that Bryce Williams will be out for the season after suffering a leg injury against Northwestern.
This is a devastating loss as the Golden Gophers are already without Mo Ibrahim and Trey Potts for the rest of the season. Williams didn’t do much against Northwestern (2 carries for 7 yards) but he was still coming off 2 back-to-back good performances before this one.
Against Maryland on Oct. 23, Williams finished with 48 yards rushing and a touchdown on 13 carries. The week before against Nebraska, he finished with 127 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.
The Golden Gophers are still in a great position to get to the B1G Championship Game but they will have to do it without their top 3 running backs.
Their next matchup will be against Illinois this Saturday at Noon ET.
