Falling to the rival Wisconsin Badgers on December 19 to finish their 2020 season at 3-4, the Minnesota Golden Gophers lost a student-athlete ahead of the 2021 campaign, as redshirt freshman defensive end D’Vion Harris entered the NCAA transfer portal on Monday.

A 247Sports Composite three-star prospect out of Lutheran High School North in St. Louis, Missouri in the 2019 cycle, Harris did not appear in any games in his first year on-campus.

He made his collegiate debut in the November 20 victory over the Purdue Boilermakers at TCF Bank Stadium, registering one tackle.

While there was not much in terms of on-field impact, Harris took care of business in the classroom, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2020.

The Golden Gophers, who are headed into their fifth season under P.J. Fleck, will open 2021 against the Ohio State Buckeyes in Minneapolis on Thursday, September 2.
