John Harbaugh is already really impressed with his first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

At the end of April, the Baltimore Ravens selected Rashod Bateman out of Minnesota to add to the wide receiver room. The talented playmaker would provide the organization with another skilled pass catcher in an already-explosive offense.

So far, Harbaugh has been very pleased with what he’s seen out of Bateman since selecting him in the NFL Draft.

“The first impressions are very positive,” Harbaugh said according to 247Sports. “He is a no-nonsense guy and he has a nice demeanor about him. He is a quick learner and everything we thought he would be in terms of athleticism and the skill set. … I would say that he is as advertised from a talent standpoint.”

Bateman has a simple goal with Baltimore, but one that won’t come easy.

“My goal is to be the best I can be for this team,” Bateman said. “Whatever Coach Harbaugh needs or what this offense needs, I just want to be that weapon and that person for them.”

Bateman initially opted out of the 2020 season because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but ultimately opted back in. He appeared in five games for Minnesota and caught 36 passes for 472 yards and 2 touchdowns in his final year with the program. The Gophers finished with a 3-4 record.

Though Bateman was consistent throughout his three-year career with the Golden Gophers, his best season came in 2019. During the team’s 11-2 year, the wide receiver hauled in 60 receptions for 1,219 yards and 11 touchdowns. After that big year, he was considered a first-round selection.
