If Minnesota is going to win its first B1G game this year, it’ll come without its starting quarterback.

The Gophers’ depth chart ruled that Mitch Leidner will be out this Saturday when the Gophers travel to take on Maryland.

The team said that Leidner wasn’t hurt in Saturday’s loss to Iowa, despite completing only 13 of 33 passes. But he suffered from concussion symptoms in the following days.

Leidner has struggled against FBS foes this year. In four games against FBS competition in 2016, he has just one touchdown pass.

Without the senior, Minnesota will turn to Conor Rhoda, who will make his first career start. The junior appeared in the Indiana State game and completed one pass for six yards in the blowout victory.

The 6-3, 215-pound signal-caller could also rotate with Demry Croft, who presents a dual-threat look for the Gophers.

Minnesota and Maryland are set to kick off at noon ET on ESPNU.
