Minnesota accomplishes program first after Week 8 win over Rutgers
Moving to 7-0 with their 42-7 thrashing of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on October 19, the Minnesota Golden Gophers are off to the best start of head coach P.J. Fleck’s three-year tenure in Minneapolis.
One of just three undefeated B1G teams remaining, along with Ohio State and Penn State, the Gophers’ victory over Rutgers earned them an appearance in the National Football Foundation FWAA Super 16 Poll for the first time in program history.
The Football Writers Association of America recognized the program’s achievement on Twitter:

Looking to remain unbeaten, Minnesota will host Maryland (3-4, 1-3) on Saturday.
