Minnesota adds 2024 commitment from in-state ATH
P.J. Fleck’s staff continues to build Minnesota’s 2024 recruiting class. The Gophers picked up a commitment Saturday from an in-state ATH.
Simon Seidl from St. Paul is staying in his home state. The Hill Murray School standout announced his commitment to Minnesota on Twitter.
“First of all, I would like to thank Coach Fleck, Coach (Nick) Monroe and the entire Minnesota coaching staff for giving me a chance to play the game I love at the next level. I also want to thank Coach Reeves and all my high school coaches for helping me become not only a better football player, but a better man. Lastly, I would like to thank my family and friends for being there for me my whole life. With that being said, I would like to announce my commitment to the University of Minnesota. #RTB #SkiUMah”

Breaking down Seidl’s commitment
It’s a “trust the staff” commitment for the Gophers. Seidl’s only other scholarship offer at this time is from Wyoming, so Minnesota probably did not necessarily need to push for a commitment to shut Seidel’s recruitment down. Fleck’s staff clearly wanted Seidl, and now he’s pledged to the Gophers.
Seidl is rated 3-stars, the No. 9 recruit in the state of Minnesota and No. 115 ATH in the 2024 recruiting class. ATH is a multi-position designation. Seidl’s Hudl highlight tape (below) shows him making plays on both offense and defense. The mention of cornerbacks coach Nick Monroe in the commitment note indicates his future may be in the defensive backfield.
