Minnesota is working on putting together the 2024 recruiting class. For head coach PJ Fleck and his staff, that includes trying to lock down the best in-state prospects for the cycle.

On Monday, the Golden Gophers landed another Minnesota prospect. The player is Sam Macy, a 6-foot-4 and 220-pound Edge recruit out of Chanhassen High School. Macy committed to Minnesota over offers from Air Force, Navy, Army, North Dakota and South Dakota.

“I always grew up wanting to be a Gopher,” Macy wrote in his announcement, “And now that I have my chance I’m proud to announce that I’m 100% committed to the University of Minnesota! I’m staying home!”

Macy has gone unrated by the composite rankings, but 247 Sports lists Macy as a 3-star recruit and the No. 9 overall prospect out of Minnesota for the cycle. The Gophers now hold commitments from 7 of the top 10 players in the state per the 247 Sports rankings.

Minnesota’s 2024 recruiting class is now up to No. 14 in the country per the 247 Sports Team Composite. That group has 15 commitments to this point.
