Minnesota picked up a key commitment for the class of 2022 just days ahead of the Early Signing Period.

On Sunday afternoon, 3-star offensive lineman Cade McConnell announced he was picking the Gophers. He went with Minnesota over Vanderbilt, TCU, and Texas Tech on his list of top 4 schools. McConnell also previously indicated he will be signing Wednesday during the Early Signing Period.

According to the composite rankings, McConnell is a 3-star prospect out of Choctaw, Oklahoma. He is rated as the No. 33 interior OL prospect in the country and the No. 15 player out of Oklahoma for the cycle.

As things currently stand, Minnesota has the No. 40 recruiting class nationally for the 2022 cycle. McConnell becomes the highest-rated offensive line prospect for the Gophers and the 4th-highest rated commit regardless of position for PJ Fleck’s class.
