Minnesota athletic director Mark Coyle set to receive three-year contract extension
To be guaranteed a job and security with that job is important.
To be consistently worrying about your next job isn’t fun. Anybody who has been in that position can tell you that. So when an extension is offered, both sides are usually pretty happy.
On Thursday, it was announced that Minnesota athletic director Mark Coyle was receiving a three-year contract extension.
Pitino from Big Ten Media Day about #Gophers AD Mark Coyle's pending extension: "You want as a coach someone who understands it, and he’s the total package. I think he’s one of the best ADs in the country. It’s smart of Minnesota to try to lock him up."

As Marcus Fuller said, the extension is pending. The University of Minnesota Board of Regents voted Thursday to approve the extension and the extension itself is expected to be approved on Friday.
Coyle took over as the university’s athletic director in May 2016. Since then, Minnesota football went 9-4 in 2016 and underwent a coaching change in 2017 when P.J. Fleck was hired.
Fleck then went 5-7 in his first season and now in 2018, the Golden Gophers are currently 3-2 overall.
