Minnesota basketball is postponing its next game, a Tuesday evening matchup with Illinois.

Per the Gophers’ release, that road trip to Champaign is postponed as Minnesota deals with COVID-19 health and safety protocols. The two sides will cooperate with the B1G to investigate possible makeup dates for the game.

Here is the statement:

The University of Minnesota men’s basketball game scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Illinois will be postponed due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols within the Golden Gopher program.

Minnesota and Illinois, along with the Big Ten Conference, will work together to identify possible rescheduling dates.

Minnesota’s next scheduled game is at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12 against Iowa at home. The game will air on FS1 and KFAN 100.3 FM.

The Gophers are in the middle of Ben Johnson’s second season leading the program. After a 13-17 record last season, Minnesota has struggled to find its footing in the 2022-23 season.

Minnesota has lost 7 straight games and is just 1-11 in league play so far this season.
