The Minnesota Golden Gophers pulled off a ho-hum win over lowly Chicago State Thursday afternoon, winning 58-55 to secure their 6th win on the season.

Those 3 points are important. In the late stages of the first half, Minnesota sank perhaps the wildest 3-pointer of the season, one that deflected off a Chicago State player before banking in. At the end of the day it will go down as a made 3-point shot by Jamison Battle.

There’s no preparing for this shot. It was counted as a 2-pointer at first and later changed to 3 points for the Gophers.

That, sadly, is one of the most impressive things that has happened to Minnesota basketball all season. The Gophers are 6-6 and had lost 5 of their last 6 heading into Thursday’s win.

No time like the present to flip the script, though. Minnesota gets into the bulk of its B1G slate in January.
