Minnesota opened the second half against Iowa by cutting into the 14-point deficit.

The Gophers looked a little sluggish offensively at times throughout the first half. Playing on the road in Iowa City is never easy, but Minnesota at least kept it a two-score game heading into the half.

Coming out of the break, the Gophers looked like a well-oiled machine to start the half. Minnesota marched right down the field behind QB Tanner Morgan and RB Rodney Smith. The deciding play was a nice throw by Morgan to Tyler Johnson.

Johnson’s beautiful route put him behind the defense, and Morgan made sure to put the throw on the money. It went for 28 yards and made it a one-score game in favor of the Hawkeyes.
