Minnesota coach PJ Fleck makes decision on starting QB for Purdue game
Golden Gophers head coach PJ Fleck has made his decision on his starting quarterback moving forward and it’s one that the fanbase may not like.
Fleck is sticking with Tanner Morgan against Purdue on Saturday, even after he struggled mightily against Bowling Green in Week 4. Morgan only threw for 59 yards in that game and to make matters worse, he finished with 2 interceptions and was sacked 4 times.
Fleck explained his decision to TwinCities.com in an exclusive interview and said:
“One game doesn’t destroy what he’s done,” Fleck told the Pioneer Press on Tuesday. “That has always been my stance on personnel. You pick your personnel for a reason, and again, any position, everything always gets evaluated.”
While Fleck may have a point, Morgan didn’t do much in Minnesota’s prior game against Colorado either. He finishes with only 164 yards passing with no touchdowns or interceptions as it was their rushing attack that led the way for the win.
We’ll have to see if Fleck’s decision pays off this Saturday at Noon ET when these 2 teams go at it.
