Minnesota has enjoyed quite a bit of success on the football field since P.J. Fleck took over in 2017, but the program is also seeing significant improvement elsewhere.

On Thursday, the football program announced that it had set a new record for cumulative team grade point average (GPA). The team had a cumulative GPA of 3.48, the highest ever in program history.

The previous mark had been set at 3.33. Also included in the graphic, Minnesota mentioned that an outstanding 106 players from the team earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

“So very proud of our team for continuing to ‘Change Our Best’ and now have the BEST team cumulative GPA in school history!! #RTB #HYPRR #SkiUMah,” Fleck wrote on Twitter.

Minnesota finished the 2020 season with a 3-4 record. The Golden Gophers are 26-19 under Fleck over four seasons and are 2-0 in bowl games since 2018.

This year, the Gophers open the year on Thursday, Sept. 2 against Ohio State at TCF Bank Stadium.
