Darrell Thompson is having his Minnesota records chased by Mohamed Ibrahim this season. He  highlighted why he’s honored that Ibrahim is coming after what he did per Ameer Eldomiatti of gophersports.com.

Thompson is currently tied with Ibrahim for career rushing touchdowns (40), and Ibrahim is 5th on the leaderboard for Thompson’s career rushing yards record. One word that Thompson used to describe Ibrahim was “unheralded”.

“The first word that comes to mind when I think of Mohamed is ‘unheralded’,” Thompson said. “I mean he’s a guy who worked for everything he has and who emerged up the depth chart and waited his turn behind two other great running backs and then when they went down, he had 200 yards in his first bowl game.”

Another thing Thompson likes about Ibrahim is that he is someone who has done things the right way. The improvements that Thompson has seen from Ibrahim’s freshman year to now stands out.

“He’s always done things the right way,” Thompson said. “He is always improving, always working hard in the weight room. How he improved from the point where he started to where he is now is just amazing.”

Ibrahim will be chasing more than just records this season, as Minnesota is in a position to compete for a B1G West title.
