New head coach Ben Johnson is working on putting together the 2022 recruiting class at Minnesota, and the Gophers picked up an in-state prospect to jump-start things.

On Wednesday, Minnesota picked up a commitment from Braeden Carrington, a shooting guard out of Minneapolis. He made his commitment on Twitter:

Carrington is listed at 6-foot-3 and 165 lbs. out of Park Center High School. He was unranked by the industry-generated composite rankings.

Despite being unlisted, Carrington has added Power 5 offers from across the country. His offer sheet includes Colorado, Florida, Missouri, Xavier, and Seton Hall. He becomes Minnesota’s first commitment for the class of 2022.

Now that Johnson has the first commitment of the cycle, hopefully, he can add more in quick succession heading into the fall.
