The Gophers are nearly up to double digit commitments in the 2019 recruiting cycle following the pledge of Illinois native Jason Bargy.

This is a big pickup for Minnesota, as Bargy is rated as a four-star weakside defensive end and the No. 2 overall prospect from Illinois. He’s rated as the nation’s No. 190 overall prospect and the No. 13 weakside defensive end in the nation. All of these ranking come via 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Bargy gives Minnesota nine commitments for 2019 with only Michigan having more at this point of the year (the Wolverines currently have 10 commits). The Illinois native is also the highest-ranked prospect committed to Minnesota at this time.
