Minnesota just added a commitment from an experienced defender for 2021.

This time, the commitment came from Jack Gibbens, a graduate transfer out of Abilene Christian.

Considering the youth and issues on the defensive side of the ball in 2020, it is a good sign to see Minnesota add an experienced defender that can step in right away.

According to Ryan Burns with Gopher Illustrated, Gibbens was a four-year starter at ACU. He finished his career there with 258 tackles and 22 tackles for loss.

As a graduate transfer, Gibbens will have immediate eligibility. He should be a plug-and-play type defender and nice addition to the middle of Minnesota’s defense.

Minnesota’s 2021 recruiting class is currently rated as the sixth-best in the B1G with seven four-star recruits. It will be interesting to see how the 2021 class continues to take shape heading into the early signing period.

For the 2020 Gophers, Saturday’s game against Northwestern has been canceled with the program hoping to return to action in Week 8.
