A top 10 player from the state of Indiana is heading to Minnesota.

Over the weekend, the Golden Gophers received a verbal commitment from three-star weak-side defensive end Austin Booker. He announced his decision with a video on Twitter. Booker is now the 18th player to join Minnesota’s 2021 recruiting class.

Booker is listed as a 6-foot-5, 235-pound weak-side defensive end out of Greenwood, Indiana. He was a target for 19 other schools during his recruitment, picking Minnesota over offers from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Nebraska and Purdue out of the B1G.

According to 247Sports, Booker ranks as the No. 10 player out of Indiana and is the No. 45 weak-side defensive end in his class.

Last season at Center Grove High School, Booker tallied 67 total tackle, including 14 for loss. He also collected eight sacks, forced two fumbles and recovered a fumble during his junior season.

With Booker’s commitment, Minnesota’s 2021 class ranks ninth nationally and third in the B1G.
