Minnesota has just landed a talented tight end from the 2021 recruiting class.

On Thursday, the Gophers received a verbal pledge from three-star tight end Jameson Geers, on of the top 20 tight ends of the 2021 class, according to 247Sports. He made his announcement via a post on Twitter.

Geers becomes the fifth member of Minnesota’s 2021 recruiting class. He picked the Golden Gophers over offers from over a dozen schools, including five B1G programs.

Per 247Sports, Geers ranks as one of the top 500 players for his recruiting cycle. The 6-foot-5, 223-pound tight end is a native of New Lenox, Illinois.

Geers had a total of 16 offers. In addition to Minnesota, he also received interest from five other B1G programs, including Illinois, Iowa, Purdue, Northwestern and Wisconsin. Other schools that made offers include names like Iowa State, Kansas, Louisville, Virginia and West Virginia.

Minnesota now sits fourth in 2021 recruiting class in the B1G and 11th nationally.
